French hotel chain AccorHotels is planning to launch a hotel property in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Globally, AccorHotels operates a network of 4,100 hotels, resorts and residences, apart from 3,000 private homes.

AccorHotels, chief Operating Officer (India and South Asia) Jean-Michel Cassé said here the Group was bullish on North Indian market.

He said the Group was keen to having its next hotel in Varanasi and was already soliciting suitable business opportunities in this regard. At present, AccorHotels runs hotels in Noida and Lucknow.

Cassé said Indian hospitality sector was now looking up and the demand for quality hotel rooms was picking up. He observed the government’s emphasis on facilitating the operation of low-cost budget air taxi services between smaller airports would spur tourism and boost hospitality sector.

Cassé was in town recently to launch AccorHotels’ property in Lucknow. The hotel has been unveiled under Novotel brand.

Located in the posh locality of Gomti Nagar, the business class hotel comprises 106 rooms and suites. The property is owned by Mehrab Logistics & Aviation Limited (MLAAL).

Over the last few years, Lucknow has witnessed entry of marquee hospitality players, including Marriott, Golden Tulip and now AccorHotels, due to rapid expansion of the services sector. Besides, about a dozen standalone premium hotels and resorts have also come up in Lucknow and its outskirts.
