Lucknow :  The BJP is now on  Modi’s  super wave heading towards a a massive victory in Uttar Pradesh. Initials trend tell that the party is leading in almost 300+ seats in the assembly of 403.

Holi has arrived two days early for the party as it celebrates its most crucial win since winning the 2014 national election. The heavy Modi wave hit the Uttar Pradesh to pour its saffron thunderstorm making its followers take a dip in saffron colors. Not only UP, BJP is also sweeping in the neighbouring  Uttarakhand. Punjab has given the Congress another chance after 10 years.

In UP, the BJP is leading in 309 seats, with a huge gain of  of 261 over its tally of 48 seats in the 2012 assembly election. BJP  needs 202 to form government with absolute majority . Bjp voting trend and come out will give it a majority which it has not even dreamt of since its inception.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, which contested in forming a alliance with the Congress, has accepted defeat. Mr Yadav may  resign this afternoon.

In Punjab, the Congress has taken a strong lead, ahead in 73 seats; it needs 59 for a majority in the 117-member state assembly. AAP and the Akali Dal-BJP alliance are trailing far behind.

The Congress has raced ahead in Manipur, where its Okram Ibobi Singh has been chief minister for the last 15 years. The parties are neck-and-neck in Goa, where AAP has failed to open its account.

In the hill state of Uttarakhand, the BJP has an unassailable lead, ahead in 50 of the state’s 70 seats. The ruling Congress is leading in 17 seats.

The mega UP election, held in seven rounds, is seen as a litmus test for the 2019 national election. PM Modi was the face of the BJP’s campaign and the party has credited the victory to his leadership. The partys whole campaign was hanging around Modi and its vision towards the country.

“This is a mandate for PM Modi… I could see a surge, it is becoming a tsunami,” said union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad of the BJP, adding, “We have surpassed even the Ram wave…the kind of hope, the kind of trust Modiji has generated.” He also praised party chief Amit Shah for working “tirelessly.”

The UP whooping win will be seen as an endorsement of the PM’s image and leadership and decision- demonetization -after his high-risk decision last November to scrap 500 and 1,000 rupee notes worth 86 per cent of the total  cash in circulation, aimed at eliminating corruption and black money.

The victory will help improve the BJP’s strength in the Rajya Sabha or upper house of parliament where the government is in a minority and has trouble pushing legislation.

The Congress has done disastrously in recent elections and if it wins in Punjab and Manipur, it will be the best news the party has had in months, but questions are again being raised about party vice president Rahul Gandhi’s leadership after the poor showing in UP, where he focused his attention with an intense campaign.
