MEERUT: Meerut’s sitting legislator, BJP’s senior leader and ex president Dr Laxmikant Bajpai is leading the race in the key seat in Western Uttar Pradesh. The 66-year-old Bajpai , former practitioner of Ayurveda has been a four-time legislator from Meerut. He had also been the state president of the party till he was replaced ahead of the assembly elections by MP Keshav Pradhan Maurya from Agra.
Early leads have given clear cut indications of BJP heading for a massive victory in Uttar Pradesh with 300+ seats in the assembly of 403. Currently BJP IS heading in almost 305 + seats . Alliance is leading in 70+ seats while BSP is heading in 25 seats.
Celebrations have started at the BJP headquarters after the early trends made its lead, Lucknow – state office is flooded with party workers who have started playing holi with gulaal and abeer raising slogans like” chappa chappa bhajapa “
