India vs Australia 3rd Test Match, Stumps Day 1: India would be very disappointed to have conceded almost 300 runs on Day 1 despite sending four batsmen back in the dressing room at 140-run mark but fielding laps made Australia put on 299 on the score board. Skipper Steve Smith’s (117*) not out, The Aussie skipper has moved on from the DRS controversy and has done it in style. He played a knock of superior quality in Ranchi today and was well-supported by the Glenn Maxwell who has also answered the questions around his ability to play Test cricket, with a score of 82* when the day one play has stopped.

Last 12 months haven’t been easy for Maxwell. He was dropped from the Kings XI Punjab side, had a poor summer in Australian was dropped from the ODI team, tried to switch his domestic side but failed and created controversy over his statement against Matthew Wade. But he has proved his critics wrong with his knock of 82* runs. As far as Indian bowlers are considered, they didn’t do too badly either but would be hoping more wickets tomorrow.
