Anti Romeo drive gets backlash, cop suspended for taking bring and harassing cousin !!!

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dream drive- anti Romeo drive, now raising question as the up cop mistreating, illegally detaining people and charging bribe to let them go free.

Two policemen have been suspended for allegedly harassing and taking bribe from a youth and his cousin, whom they had detained during the Uttar Pradesh Police’s anti-Romeo drive in Rampur district.

 

Sub-inspector Sanjeev Giri and constable Vimal detained a youth and cousin sister, both aged about 18, when they came to Rampur market to purchase medicines from their native Hashmat Ganj village, said superintendent of police KK Chaudhary.

 

Police officer said both the cousin were detained and were kept in the police station for almost five hours.

 

The police personnel refused to let go the cousins even after their relatives approached them and clarified that they were related and were not a couple, he said.

 

The policemen allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to free them, the officer said, adding that relatives gave the amount and also filmed the incident.

Later they approached local MLA and minister Baldev Singh Aulakh, who informed the SP about the whole incident.

 

The officer said that after going through the video and initial investigation, he suspended the accused sub-inspector and the constable

Anti-Romeo drive and squads set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to check and prevent eve-teasing , harassment, violence and related kind of issues pertaining women , has recently drawn criticism from certain quarters where such incident are denting the govt’s most ambitious scheme to deliver and guarantee freedom and violence free state for women.
