With a view to doubling the farm income over the next five years, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is keen to employ Israeli technology in the state agriculture and allied sectors.
Almost half of Israel’s land is arid and lacks adequate water resources. Yet, Israel has developed innovative agricultural technologies to economise on water and attain high farm yield.
UP is looking forward to benefitting from Israel’s farm tech and replicate the same in arid Bundelkhand region and other areas with depleting ground water table.
Yesterday, Israel Ambassador Daniel Carmon had met Yogi, who expressed keenness to partner the country in power, horticulture, irrigation, science and technology, agriculture and smart city projects.
Israel is assisting India in about 40 projects related to horticulture and agriculture, of which 15 had been completed. In UP, two projects viz. industrial development centre in Basti and vegetable development centre in Kannauj were underway, which was projected to benefit nearly 15,000 farmers.
Besides, Israel was associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship ‘Namami Gange’ project aimed at making river Ganga cleaner. Carmon said prospects of Israeli investments in the state could also be explored going forward.
