Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the Group of Ministers (GoM), tasked with drafting the new industrial policy, to take 360 degree approach for a more inclusive and progressive policy framework.
In a meeting with the GoM recently, the CM touched upon topics of single window system, industrial land bank, power, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), connectivity, investment, procedures, corruption, jobs, entrepreneurship etc for spurring industrial growth.
The GoM had given a presentation of the draft policy before Yogi, who has been keenly keeping track, since industrial development is a vital component towards fulfilling several of the key pre-poll promises of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including creating jobs and increasing tax revenue.
Yogi said the new policy should emphasise on identifying land for industries, as well as expanding the land bank for prospective units. The scarcity of land bank has always been flagged as a major impediment to growth. The industrialists claim while UP State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) lacks adequate land bank, the private land was costly and unviable for entrepreneurs.
Underlining UP was the biggest market given its large population, he said the policy should nurture a conducive business environment for faster economic and trade development. He mentioned food parks, IT parks, textiles park etc, which should be encouraged for job creation and faster economic progress
