Chinese company to set up smartphone plant in Noida

Chinese smartphone company Comio plans to invest Rs 150 crore in a manufacturing and assembling plant in Noida.

“We are looking for suitable land for our proposed unit, which would be set up during the current fiscal,” Comio India CEO and Director Sanjay Kumar Kalirona said here.

Comio is aiming at a turnover of Rs 4,000 crore by 2019-20 compared to the current year turnover target of Rs 600-700 crore.”

The Noida region is today India’s hottest smartphone with most happening brands viz. Samsung, Karbonn, Lava, Intex etc having their presence there.

Meanwhile, Comio has launched three new smartphones in the Indian market in the price band of Rs 6,000-10,000. It has collaborated with 15,000 retailers, 400 distributors and 400 service centres, apart from e-commerce portals.

Comio is a brand of Hong Kong-headquartered Topwise Communication, which is a leading original device manufacturer (ODM) in China. It figures among the top three printed circuit board (PCBA) manufacturers. It had launched its first smartphone in China in 2015.

The Centre has estimated mobile phone production reaching 500 million devices by 2019-20 in the country.
