Korean electronics giant Samsung plans to expand footprint in the Uttar Pradesh hinterland of Uttar Pradesh.
Currently, Samsung has a network of nearly 15,000 retailers and 146 exclusive franchisee managed stores and as many services centres in UP, which is one of its largest markets in the country.
“The growth in the UP smartphone market has been good and new growth continues to emerge from the smaller towns. As such, we would like to penetrate deeper into the state market to further increase our market share,” Samsung India vice president (mobile business) Manu Sharma said here during his recent visit to Lucknow.
He said there was huge untapped potential in UP with regards to the smartphones and the company remained bullish with the future growth prospects in the market.
“On the back of our fresh product launch of Galaxy J series smartphones and the ‘Never Mind’ customer offer, we are confident to increase our current market share of 44 percent in UP,” he said.
‘Never Mind’ allows a customer to avail one-time replacement of a broken screen within a year of purchase by paying Rs 999 during repair. This is primarily aimed at attracting buyers during the festival season.
