Shilpa Shinde, who played the popular role of Angoori Devi in the famous TV show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, has filed a sexual harassment case against the show’s producer Sanjay Kohli. However, his wife dismisses the claims made by her, as reported by Mumbai media
In the FIR, which was filed at the Waliv police station in Vasai, Mumbai, Shilpa alleges that Sanjay tried to take advantage of her and would call her ‘sexy’.
She also claimed that Sanjay Kohli threatened to sack her from the show if she refused to get intimate with him.
The FIR filed by her, says “In the past year, I battled from depression and medical issues owing to this abuse and harassment. I have decided to spoke out ,I know many women from the industry are afraid to speak up, but I want to speak , on their behalf.”
She also said “Once make-up man Pinku Patwa saw him harassing me, who was sacked the next day. When I spurned his advances, he sacked me from the show,” says the FIR.
Shilpa Shinde told that she had a very ‘tough time’ filing the case. She went to the police thrice in a week with her lawyer but the role of the police was indifferent and insensitive.”
She was also given a legal notice when she quit the show owing to such mental and sexual harassment. Kohli accused her of breach of contract. The producers sued her for Rs 12.5 crore because of the losses that production house met with after she quitted the show .
However, Shilpa claims that the production house still owes her Rs 32 lakh.
Denying the claims made by Shilpa Shinde, producer Sanjay Kohli’s wife, Binaifer told “We’ve a strong case against her for the damages she caused; that figure runs into crores. But I have full faith in the judiciary; we will see her in court.”
